ADVERTISMENT
46 percent of Gregg County voters cast early ballots

Early voting in Gregg County fell short of the mark set in the 2008 presidential cycle but still amounted to 46.4 percent of registered voters.
The 2,687 ballots gathered Friday brought the tally for the two weeks of early balloting to 31,602, said Gregg County Elections Administrator Kathryn Nealy.
That included in-person votes and the 2,673 mailed ballots received by Friday, Nealy said.
There are 68,088 registered voters in Gregg County.
The 2008 election drew 32,290 early votes.
Nealy noted this year’s election does not have any local races left to decide in Gregg County, which could somewhat account for the smaller early turnout this year.
“It’s still a really good turnout,” she added.
Harrison County early voters were no slouches, either.
