East Texas Heroes

Congratulations to November’s "East Texas Hero!"

Angela McCaskill will graduate as a RN from Kilgore College in December, yet in the midst of her rigorous studies, has not ceased to show her compassion and commitment to the community. She is passionate about serving others and has been able to rally her fellow nursing students, family, and friends to help out in numerous social causes. She has twice organized a Food and Clothing Drive for the Kilgore Community Crisis Center. Both drives were successes, providing food, clothes and toys to women and children in need.

Angela also Co-directed a Bake Sale for the March of Dimes. She was able to secure a spot outside of the local Walmart and, along with the help of many nursing students, met their financial goal for helping the March of Dimes save the lives of babies. Angela was moved by the patients she met at Rusk State Hospital and was inspired to hold a Literature Drive(magazines, puzzles, activity books), so that the patients would have some interesting and fun ways to spend their days in the hospital.

While Angela is always up for helping out in organized causes, most impressive is her willingness to seek out and help individuals. If you are in need, she will seek out ways to help you out. She is a true example of a local hero!
