Hey everyone! I absolutely love my job reporting for both KETK and Fox News East Texas! I truly feel blessed every single day.
My favorite part of the news business is the unpredictability! One day I'm interviewing President Bill Clinton and the next day I'm covering American Idol or trials in the courtroom. Each day is new and exciting.
I could write a book about the journey it took to get here because the story takes me all over the country and world! However, I will spare you and give you the short version (laughs).
After growing up in Duncanville and Midlothian, Texas (suburbs of Dallas), I attended Texas Tech University on academic scholarships. I later received more scholarships from the School of Mass Communications at Tech (which my parents appreciated greatly!) I graduated in 2002 from Tech (Wreck 'Em) with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in English.
For the last six years, I worked with professional and college athletes as a sports publicist and I enjoyed telling their stories about glory on and off the playing field. Over 50 of my former athletes play in the NFL, NBA, WNBA and MLB. I also worked with national sports networks like Fox Sports, ESPN and CBS Sports.
In addition, I was a media publicist with USA Basketball, so I take a lot of pride in the Olympics...therefore, I'm so excited that the 2008 Games will air right here on NBC this summer!
This last year has been the best of my life! I was there for the final season of NFL Europe and lived in Germany with some amazing friends. I then left a successful career in sports public relations to pursue my televisions dreams. I've always believed in living the life I've imagined - so I felt it was time to go in the direction of my dreams.
My relationship with Jesus Christ is my first passion in life and I am a member of the Oaks Fellowship Church in Red Oak.
I have visited 15 countries worldwide and I hope to add more to the list soon! My favorites are: Cuba, Ireland and Switzerland.
In my spare time, I'm either volunteering, playing sports or spending time with friends and family and telling jokes! I love the Dallas Cowboys and especially my favorite player, who's also one of my favorite people - Tony Curtis.
My mother (Vicki) and father (Joe) are my best friends and I owe everything to them. My siblings (Tara, Justin and Joseph) and my infant nephew Luke - are the driving forces behind everything I do. I get my sports knowledge from my Grandma and we have a special bond because of our love for football.
When you see me out and about, please say hello! I always enjoy meeting you and please feel free to email me at tamara.jolee@fox51.com.
God Bless!
