UPDATE: 4 people killed in head-on collision on highway 79 in Jacksonville

UPDATE: Around 2 this afternoon, State Troopers got the call.

They tell KETK, a Chrysler Pacifica driven by Kashundra Rogers somehow veered into oncoming traffic hitting a Chevy truck driven by Kelly Jones.

Rogers, as well as her two young passengers, 11 and 12 (one of which was her daughter, Kaleigh Hinton) died on scene.  Ronjenne Williams was the other young passenger killed.

In the Chevy Truck driven by Jones, his passenger Lee Montgomery was killed on impact.

Jones, as well as the 3 children in the back of the truck were taken to hospitals for their injuries.

UPDATE: Smith County DPS has now confirmed 4 people have died and 2 people are injured in a 2-vehicle head-on collision on Highway 79 in Jacksonville at CR 3209.

KETK crews have just returned from the scene of a major accident about 5 miles from Jacksonville on highway 79 going toward Palestine.

When we arrived, there was another wreck blocking traffic just 2 miles away from the major accident.

Officials on the scene tell KETK 4 people were killed in this accident.

We are still waiting on confirmation from Cherokee County authorities as to what exactly happened.

June 26 will forever be the day that changed my life. And always will be! She will not be forgotten by the ones who loved her.

Her name was Leigh Ann Montgomery.
