Retailers Giving Back to the Community by Hosting The Salvation Army Red Kettle

The Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle campaign, which has been part of the American holiday season landscape for 120 year and has even spread to countries around the world, is our largest fundraiser of the year. Monday through Saturday of each week from mid-November through Christmas Eve, smiling Bell Ringers man our familiar candy apple-red Kettles. (Did you know that those bell ringers inspired the holiday classic, “Silver Bells”?)

The coins, bills, and  checks—and even rings, gold coins, and precious stones—dropped into the Red Kettles between Thanksgiving and Christmas not only help provide holiday meals to the homeless and toys and clothing to children at Christmas, but also fund Salvation Army programs and services in Tyler the other 364 days of the year.

Many retailers and property companies recognize that The Salvation Army Red Kettle is as much a part of the holiday season as tinsel and twinkle lights and invite us to set up our Red Kettles outside their doors or in their courtyards. This year, you’ll find the familiar Salvation Army Red Kettles and bell ringers at the following retailers, malls, and outlets:

The Salvation Army Kettle campaign is even more crucial this year, as Texans continue to struggle in our depressed economy: Each day we see families and individuals who are struggling to make ends meet after job loss, medical emergencies, and other crises. More and more of your neighbors are seeking help from The Salvation Army, yet financial support from the community is down. So please don’t forget to give to The Salvation Army Red Kettles you see this season.
