Crittenden: Ballot foulup puts Upshur County commissioner runoff in limbo
GILMER - Upshur County Pct. 1 Commissioner James Crittenden is saying it is unlikely his re-election race will be settled tonight.
The incorrect ballots were distributed at one box in Pct. 1 and did not have the names of the commissioner candidates on them, said Crittenden, who is running against challenger Paula Gentry.
"I am quite upset right now," Crittenden said.
Hundreds of voters could have received ballots without the candidates' names, he said, potentially affecting the election's outcome.
"It looks like this race will continue," he said. "I don't know how long."
Crittenden said blame rests with election judges at the location for handing out wrong ballots.
Gentry declined immediate comment.
