Officials with the Humane Society of Northeast Texas say they have a record number of dogs and cats.

They received more than 100, seized, abandoned, surrendered, or stray animals this week, in just three days.

The shelter only averages about four to five adoptions a day, which means most animals will have to be euthanized.

In May, the shelter's euthanasia rate jumped up to 49%, while adoptions, local rescues, transports to shelters and owner reclaims dropped to 48%.

You can help the problem by supporting the Humane Society of Northeast Texas.

They are currently offering a special on kittens and puppies. You can adopt two for $100.00.

Go to www.hsntx.org, to check out all the animals available for adoption, or you can stop by the shelter located at 303 Enterprise street, in Longview.

The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m..
