State rep: Refocus students’ education
HENDERSON — The state representative-elect for Rusk, Nacogdoches and Cherokee counties told residents Tuesday at a town hall meeting in Henderson that he’d like to see a reduction in state testing days and refocus some aspects of high school education.
“We need to look into teaching more high-level science classes via the internet, especially in the rural areas of the state,” Travis Clardy said. “We also need to offer more high tech vocational education, rather than trying to force all of our students into the college prep model; the path of success doesn’t have to go through a college campus.”
