WASHINGTON - The American College of Obstitricians and Gynocologists released a new recommendation for women's health care on Friday. The group of doctors said that women should follow new guidelines when it comes to getting pap smears. They say that women should start pap smears three years after becoming sexually active and then one every two years after that. They also said all women should begin getting pap smears at age twenty one. Another recommendation was that after a woman turns thirty it is only necessary to get pap smears every three years. The problem is doctors can't agree.

TYLER — Warmth from the obama's innaugural dancing shoes had not even cooled before allegations of "a foreigner in the white house" surfaced.

Speculation the president was not born in Hawaii, rather in Africa and should not have the right to be in the oval office.

One fundementalist Christian group even has a half hour infomercial dedicated to the question of the president's birthplace.

In June the Obama administration released a copy of the president's birth certficate: showing the state of Hawaii as home.

WASHINGTON – Digging in for a long struggle, Republican senators and governors assailed the Democrats' newly minted health care legislation Thursday as a collection of tax increases, Medicare cuts and heavy new burdens for deficit-ridden states.

Despite the criticism, there were growing indications Democrats would prevail on an initial Senate showdown set for Saturday night, and Majority Leader Harry Reid crisply rebutted the Republican charges. The bill "will save lives, save money and save Medicare," he said.

City releases holiday schedule

City offices will observe the following holiday schedule on Thursday, Nov. 26 and Friday, Nov. 27 for the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Holiday Trash Collection
The Tyler Solid Waste office and the Tyler Recycling Center will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 26. Due to the holiday, citizens whose trash is normally collected on Thursday will have their trash collected on Wednesday.
Trash will be collected on regularly scheduled days Monday, Tuesday and Friday. The holiday will not affect curbside recycling collection.

Natural Gas Blowout in Louisiana kills East Texan

GRAND CANE, LOUISIANA --- A natural gas well blowout in Desoto Parish, Louisiana kills a Bullard man and injures another.

59-year-old James Dennis was killed in the accident on Wednesday, while 30-year-old Jimmy Siler, also of Bullard, is listed in stable condition at a Shreveport hospital.

According to reports, both men worked for Dynasty Transportation in Broussard, Louisiana.

2 dozen homes were evacuated, all in a two-mile radius of Chesapeake Energy.

Tina Estes, who evacuated area says it was a frightening experience, but it could be worse.

Lack of fuel may have caused Wood County plane crash, but saved man's life

MINEOLA - A pilot survived the crash of his small plane and managed to make a phone call for help Thursday, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

The DPS identified the pilot as Michael Anthony Thern, 36, of Plano.

DPS spokesman Tom Vinger said the single-engine plane evidently clipped some treetops and crashed about 4:45 a.m. Thursday a half-mile north of Wood County Airport, between Mineola and Quitman.

(Nacogdoches, TX) Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital, along with the Texas Department of State Health Services, has scheduled a vaccination clinic for the H1N1 virus for certain high-risk categories for Friday.

The clinic will be held at the Nacogdoches County Exposition Center on the Northwest Loop in Nacogdoches from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The clinic will be a drive-thru format.

According to state guidelines, high risk persons are described as:

Texans plan to spend more during holidays

Texans plan to spend considerably more than the nation as a whole this holiday season and they are more optimistic than last year about the economy improving, according to a Deloitte survey that will be released today.

Deloitte's annual holiday survey found that fears about the recession are slowly subsiding, with 55 percent of Texans saying they expect the economy to improve in 2010. Last year, only 27 percent were optimistic after a summer of $4-a-gallon gasoline, escalating food costs and the implosion of Wall Street.

Cincinnati shootout caught on tape

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Police Chief Tom Streicher used video from police cruisers and surveillance cameras Wednesday morning to explain a fatal shootout the previous day involving his officers.

Streicher said that Specialist Greg Toyeas pulled over Randolph Ward after Ward cut the officer off in traffic.

Video from Toyeas' cruiser showed the officer questioning Ward, try to get Ward out of the car and then pull his gun as Ward ran from the car with his own gun in his right hand.

ATLANTA – Air travelers nationwide scrambled to revise their plans Thursday after an FAA computer glitch caused widespread cancellations and delays for the second time in 15 months.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the problem, which lasted about five hours, was fixed around 10 a.m., but it was unclear how long flights would be affected.

Doug Church, a spokesman for the National Air Traffic Controllers Union, said controllers were still entering flight plans manually in some locations even after the glitch was fixed.

Investigators say the 36-year-old pilot was able to call for help .

The Plano man was taken from the wreckage by helicopter to a Tyler hospital. He has broken ankles and other cuts, but is expected to survive.

Even though investigators say Michael Thern is an experienced pilot, he crashed because he ran out of fuel.
