Florists get ready for Valentine's Day
Local florists are gearing up for one of the biggest gift giving days of the year-- Valentine's Day.
According to the National Retail Federation, consumers will spend about $1.9 billion this year on just flowers.
LouAnn Green the owner Flowers by LouAnn says, "we've been working hard to get everything prepared and ready as early as we can so don't have any problem delivering because we have a lot of last minute orders."
There's a lot of work that goes into preparing for Valentine's Day.
Stacey Conner, the owner of the French Peas Flower Shop in Tyler says, "we've been working all week, in fact several weeks, since the first of January, just getting containers, all kinds of plants, of course our fresh flowers will be coming the first of the week."
Flowers by LouAnn has also been getting ready. Green says, "we order all our vases, ribbons and things we're going to need, stuffed animals, truffles and candy, and things like that we get lot of stuff done early."
Desite high gas prices both florists tell KETK they're doing their best to keep prices low for the customers.
