Michael Irvin Coming to Gilmer

It will be a big night in Buckeye Land.

Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and Hall of Famer Michael Irvin will be the keynote speaker for the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Gilmer Buckeyes Ring Ceremony presented by Brookshires on Saturday, March 27, at the Gilmer Civic Center. A silent auction of memoribilia will begin at 5:30 and the ceremony will start at 7:00 p.m.

Former Gilmer Buckeye and current Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Manual Johnson, along with former Longview Lobo and current Washington Redskins wide receiver Malcolm Kelly are also scheduled to appear.

The ceremony will present the 2009 state championship rings to the Buckeyes' football team including Darian "Stump" Godfrey, the 2009 "Built Ford Tough" 3A Player of the Year and the Dave Campbell's Texas Football Magazine's "Mr. Texas Football" who signed a letter of intent with the University of New Mexico last month.

Other Buckeyes including Tristan Holt and Braylon Webb, who signed with the University of Missouri; Jacob Jenkins, who signed with Oklahoma State University; and Vance Green, who signed with Colorado State University will receive their rings.
