TYLER - Some Texas food banks say higher fuel costs will be a challenge as we head into the holidays.

A food bank spokesperson says, the higher cost for fuel affects how the food gets transported.

They say one suggestion is going high-tech, and donating online.

The agency says people can host a "virtual food drive" to go "shopping" on your personalized web page created by the food bank, and donate online.

"Which essentially would be, pick the food items that you want, and you're able to pay right there and donate to the East Texas Food Bank, which we then turn around and acquire the food that our families need."; says Robert Bush with the East Texas Food Bank.

Contributions can be pledged in food, and funds.
