ARP - Another alligator is spotted in East Texas!
And this one--- is even bigger than the one we showed you last week.
For a while now, the people who live near an Arp lake knew an alligator lived there, too.
They didn't mind it.
Until Thursday rolled around.
That's because for once, the alligator appeared to be dangerous.
Now, they say "Get him out!"
Michael Mead says, "The head, I'm gonna estimate, it looked to be about 18 inches to 2 feet long and 14 inches wide or so."
Paul Jones says, "I saw the tail. It was large, but never came out of the water. At least 6 inches verticle."
So, imagine an alligator about double the size of the one we saw last week.
That one was 6 feet.
The one in this lake, at least 10.
That's what wranglers say they're dealing with--- a big one with an obvious--- appetite.
Paul Jones lives on a 10-acre lake in Arp.
And with him lives, little Lucy, Tucker and Daisy.
They are his family.
And that's why Thursday, Jones said enough is enough.
Mead says, "I saw across the lake an alligator up out of the water. It had something in its mouth. It was flopping back and forth."
Everyone thought Lucy was a goner.
Fortunately, she turned up about 2 hours later.
She was wet, but she wasn't hurt.
Mead says, "I don't know if it got a duck, or what it had. But, it had something."
Jones says, "It may have been a dog, but it wasn't ours."
And that's why those who live near the lake want the gator gone.
They say, it's just too dangerous.
Jones says, "We have grandchildren, small children. We don't need them to take a chance."
Mead says, "hopefully, we can get him out of here."
Out of here, and into a different environment much like its habitat.
Still, it's catching him, that'll be the biggest obstacle.
Jones says, "We don't know how large this actually is. And until we know that, we're not sure what we're dealing with."
An alligator wrangler will try and catch the alligator this weekend.
We'll keep you posted.
