EAST TEXAS--Friday morning East Texans took a weather hit as storms rolled across the area. At 8:30am the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Van Zandt County. Canton took the first hit with a tornado touchdown.

"It appears that it touched down on the first monday grounds, one on the southwest corner and then one on the east side of town," said Canton Mayor, Rusty Wilson.

Debris, damaged tents and uprooted trees covered Canton's First Monday Trade Days, the biggest open air flea market in the world.

No touchdowns were reported but heavy rain pounded Van and Ben Wheeler.

Around 9:15 the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Smith County. Tyler had heavy rains. However tornado warnings were issued at 9:45 and again at 11:20 for Rusk County.

A KETK viewer caught a tornado on tape three miles east of Henderson on Highway 43 near the Rusk County Electric Coop.

In addition, Panola County Sherriff's department says Panola County had several tornadoes in the area, especially near Beckville around 11:30.
