SMITH COUNTY--Six East Texans are suspected of sexually abusing four children. After about a 2-year investigation, in March, Jamie Pittman was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child and was sentenced to life in prison.
"Words cannot describe the actions of not only Jamie Pittman but all the other people in this case," said prosecutor, Joe Murphy, Smith County Asst. D.A, after the Pittman trial.
Monday, Pittman's girlfriend, Shauntel Loraine Mayo, 29, will be the second defendant to face a Smith County jury in connection with the Mineola child sex ring.
In a Mineola building, four children under the age of 7, including 3 of Mayo's children, allegedly attended what they called "Kindergarten."
"They had to teach them to dance, touch each other, masturbate and take off their clothes and act sexy, because five-year-olds don't act sexy," said forensics counselor, Dr. Gayle Burress during the Pittman trial.
The children were allegedly forced to dance and perform sexual acts with each other in front of an adult audience. During Pittman's trial, Mayo's son testified that he danced naked.
Mayo's daughter testified she would look at the flowers on the walls while being raped.
"These are people who are chronic pedophiles, they have very little sexual interest in adults, they're turned on by children almost exclusively," says clinical psychologist, Dr. Paul Andrews.
The victims are now in the custody of adoptive parents. All four victims are expected to take the stand during the Mayo trial. If convicted, Mayo could face anywhere from five years to life in prison.
