DALLAS - A man who perched on a highway overpass in Dallas yesterday is in custody and now facing murder charges.

Police say the man was sitting on an overpass ledge above Interstate 35 East at about 9:30 a.m.

Officers waited for more than an hour, as the man threatened to jump.

But in the end he came down on his own, and police arrested him.

Officers think before the incident the man beat his 36-year-old wife with a baseball bat.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she later died.
