KILGORE - The city has already invested about forty thousand dollars in façade grants.
Businesses downtown are able to request a dollar amount for renovations which the city will match.
Fallon Burns, the Main Street Manager said, "We are all working towards the same goals, we want the downtown buildings to look better."
Landscaping, sidewalks and street improvements are next on the list for the main street project.
As for historical landmarks in kilgore such as the Crim, the community is anxious to see it come to life again.
The Crim could possibly be restored as a theater to show classic films or it could become a convention center for meetings and or high school graduations.
Kilgore resident, Emily Mitis said, "It would be really cool to make it a dinner theater or something entertaining."
Regardless of what it is used for Fallon Burns says it is going to require a lot of money and a lot of support from the people of Kilgore.
Mitis said, "It's good that its expanding and more people are staying in town and more businesses are in town and its somewhere we can go to all hang out."
