JACKSONVILLE---Local health officials say there's always a need for more nurses and to help with the shortage men and women will now be able get their degrees, in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville economic development corporation has partnered with Tyler junior college, East Texas medical center and Trinity Mother Frances health system to offer the program that will educate
LVN's and RN's.

Health officials say ETMC in Jacksonville used to have a nursing program but it was discontinued.

But with a shortage of nurses and an aging East Texas population, health officials decided to begin again providing instruction for students.

Again those nursing classes will be offered at the main ETMC building in Jacksonville.

No word on when the classes will start.
