TYLER - The focus of the "Mineola Swingers Club" trial has now shifted to the alleged personal relationship between a Smith County Prosecutor and two news reporters.

"Mineola Swingers Club" is a place in which children were allegedly force to perform sex acts. KETK has covered the trial from the start.

But that case is now stalled due to a continuance based on information about a foster parent and a change of venue request amid allegations by the defense of relationships - both past and present - between KLTV reporter Danielle Capper and Tyler Morning Telegraph reporter Casey Knaupp.

The question defense attorneys are asking - did the alleged relationship between the reporters with the state's lead prosecutor in the case, Joe Murphy, taint the prospective jury pool in Smith County?

According to a Tyler Morning Telegraph online article - Knaupp admits she dated Murphy "but (that) the relationship ended more than five months ago, long before the trials in the 'Mineola Swingers Club' case began."

Knaupp was quoted in the article as saying "I am in the business of reporting news, not making the news. I keep my personal and professional lives separate."

Defense attorney Thad Davidson also alleges that Murphy started dating Capper around the time of the second trial.

According to KLTV's Web site - Capper became a producer at the station in 2006- she then moved on to become a reporter in March 2007.

KLTV issued a statement late Tuesday afternoon that says the station stands by their reporting.

During a hearing this morning, District Judge Jack Skeen Jr. said Knaupp can report on the upcoming trial of Patrick Kelly in the Mineola Swinger Club Case.

Skeen ordered Davidson and the prosecutors in the case to stop giving interviews to the media.
