LONGVIEW - Due to high gas prices nation wide RV sales are down, but thats not the case here in East Texas.
Hayes RV Center of Longview says while some RV's are selling more than others but sales are still up for the year.
David Hayes said, "We do sell more that you pull, this is East Texas & lots of trucks and suv's and there are more affordable than a motor home."
Luxury is one use for an RV and we spoke to many people today who said traveling in an RV is the best form of family fun.
Hayes said, "We have many customers who have kids and they see that as of better family togetherness."
From a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and bedroom along with a nice size living area.
Some RV travelers tell us they may not be going as far this summer.....
But a recent survey shows one third of RV owners say fuel cost will not affect their travel plans this summer.
And when you look at the big picture --- traveling by RV is less expensive.
Hayes said, "Statistics show RV traveling even when you factor cost of the RV in a monthly payment...its cheaper than other means of transportation and travel."
Survey's also show 76 percent of RV travelers will make the same amount of trips this year if not more than last year.
