LONGVIEW - You would think since today is the day to do all the grilling out that grocery stores would be pretty quiet, but that is certainly not the case.
Skinners Grocery Manager Brant Brantley said, "this is probably our second biggest day ever since we've had the store seven years and it looks like we may top it today."
Isles were filled at local grocery stores with people looking for steaks, burgers, hot dogs and plenty of beverages for this hot Fourth of July.
Oneal Jones said, "We are gonna try to get out and enjoy the day, bar-b-que, maybe pop some fireworks"
Lawrence Borens said, "We just stopped by to do a little last minute shopping for some meat here, we're grilling out today."
People were filling their baskets as quick as the staff could re-stalk the shelves.
Brantley said, "We are trying to keep shelves full, we got a truck in yesterday and its been picked through pretty good and we are trying to get all our back stock out that we can."
Store owners say they wish business was this good -- year round and they expect the crowds to keep on coming throughout this independence day.
Guy Edgeman said, "We're going to Lake Cherokee to spend the day at the lake bar-b-quing.
