Your Turn: Tyler Crime

October 10, 2008 - 5:38pm

Time now for "Your Turn." In this edition we're talking about Rose City crime, and whether or not there's more of it.

As a general rule when the economy falls, crime number rise.

We wanted to know if you think there's been an increase, since the start of our money troubles.

"I don't think the economy is the driving factor with the rise in crime," this person says. "I feel there are a lot of people/crooks that don't want to work, don't know how to work so they just deal in dope, stealing or anything else involving breaking the law."

Bob doesn't think so either:

"I seriously doubt that the local thugs and thieves have a clue about the economy."

From Linda:

"Tyler has been a small town with big city problems for over 20 years now. It's not the economy, but the lack of education , alcohol, drugs, and lack of opportunity that drives people to crime."

"Time for gun sales to go up," this person writes. "If you want to play robber, you have to pay the price."

The views expressed on "Your Turn" aren't always those of the KETK newsroom or management.
