Your Turn: Presidential Debate & a New Smith Co. Jail

Time for "Your Turn," the place where we air your comments.

Topic number one, Wednesday's presidential debate.

It's the third, and final presidential debate between John McCain and Barack Obama. We want to know who you'll be rooting for.

"I really am not excited about either candidate, but I really hope McCain wins tonight," David says. "I am very concerned for the future of my children if Obama and his party win."

"John McCain has not won a debate yet," Veleshia counters, "I think it's ridiculous that the people in the channel 56 viewing area would think he would one tonight."

Topic two, a new Smith County Jail, possibly by force. We talked to Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith. He says if residents don't vote for this proposal, the federal government could step in, and mandate a new one....with possibly an even higher price-tag.

"Aren't you reminded of that little bully down the street who threatened everyone with his big brother, when you hear a county official threaten your vote with federal mandates," this person says about the sheriff.

Kenneth is in favor of the plan, and hates the way things are now.

"It is so stupid to go to smaller towns, like Athens, and see a modern jail, and we have the poor excuse of what we have to deal with."
