Teenagers have been gathering at Lake Tyler in the evening.
And they’re not there to enjoy the water.
The sign at Whitehouse High School says, have a safe summer.
It seems some Whitehouse teens weren’t listening.
It’s midday now at lake tyler. Very family friendly, folks enjoying the water and summer sun. but when the sun goes down, 60-110 kids gather here as these skidmarks show.
They drive too fast, and too dangerously. And that’s not all they do.
KETK chief Photographer Albert Belez found that the normally peaceful campsite near the Lake Tyler Marina becomes an unofficial dragstrip and hangout for large groups of young people.
And some who aren’t so young like  41-year-old ex-con   Mathews. He is driving the white Suburban registered to his brother  .
And parents are unaware.
Apparently, the Whitehouse police are unaware as well.
Chief Craig Shelton was surprised at the video we showed him.
But the Lake Tyler area technically falls under the jurisdiction of the Tyler police.
But during the day, we saw the red truck in the video…and tried to talk to the driver.
He pulled into a church and we followed…
He is 17-years-old and after two different versions of the story, admitted he was driving.
It is also in Precinct 3. Dustin Rust  met us and was shocked at the video as well.
And Friday afternoon, patrol units from the Sheriff’s Department were pulling up.
