LAKE TYLER - East Texas game wardens have identified a man who drowned in Lake Tyler early Sunday morning as 31-year-old Christopher Early.

LAKE TYLER - Smith County officials are looking for a person they say went missing Sunday morning on Lake Tyler.

Officials say the man they're looking for may have drowned early Sunday morning at the lake.

Five people reportedly went out on a boat then decided to go for a swim around midnight.

Only four people got back onto the boat.

That's when game wardens received the call to help. It's one they don't receive often.

"They thought at first he was kind of playing around, hiding, but be wasn't you know...we haven't had a water fatality in gosh, probably ten years, so we've had a pretty good track record, but unfortunately, things like this happen," Game Warden Chris Green says.

Mr. Green says the boat was in full compliance with proper registration and life jackets on board.

However, no one was wearing life jackets while they swam.

Officials have still not recovered a body from the lake, so again, they are not confirming the man drowned.
