Concern grows over Texas Medicaid cuts

DALLAS - Concern is growing over cuts to reimbursements given to doctors who treat Medicaid patients.

There are already fewer and fewer physicians willing to take medicaid patients, and with fewer incentives, officials worry the numbers will continue to decline.

The state is expected to continue cutting Medicaid reimbursements to make up for its $18 billion revenue shortfall.

More than three million Texans depend on Medicaid for health care, but less than a third of the state's doctors will accept these patients.

Don't blame the Illegals-we are all human beings-
whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers that you do unto me. In protest everyone on Medicaid and Medicare should go to the emergency rooom at least once every month until the politicians are reminded that they work for us and it is our money, not theirs. all you snot nosed youngsters who think Medicaid/Medicare is a hand out just wait-someday you will be in our shoes also-then what?

In protest everyone on Medicaid should go to the emergency room at least once every month until the politicians realize they work for us and not the other way around. When you are young, dumb and healthy you have no compassion for the sick and elderly. Just remember, what goes around comes around and someday you may need help yourself and then you will wish you had cared for the sick and elderly in your community and made sure Medicaid and Medicare stayed funded. Time is the great equalizer!

If you look down on Medicaid and its patients, just wait until you lose your job and can't find another one, go through all your savings trying to keep your home, have your house taken back by greedy bankers who won't modify your loan. You will then too seek help from your state so that you don't have to live under a bridge and homeless. It happens to the very best hard working of us.
Then you won't look down your nose at people in need like Republicans do.

If you are looking down on Medicaid patients, just wait until you lose your job and can't find another, go through all your savings, lose your home to the big banks who won't modify your mortgage.
Then look and see yourself applying for Medicaid, food stamps and anything else your state can do to help you survive and not have to live under a bridge.

Texas controlled Republican politics is on the way out, because to vote for the people is to vote Democrat.
Proud Texan

Simple- cut out the Illegals on medicaid, start requiring Medicaid users to pay a $5 copay like everyone else and you will see an enormous drop in the cost of Medicaid. Why is Medicaid advertising with billboard signs in Spanish to sign your child up ?

There's that Hope and Change for you again.

WoW you are so ignorant, it states in the article the State of Texas is making these cuts NOT Obama or the Feds. Say thank you to rick perry and the Republican Controlled legislature of 17 1/2 years.
