Hallsville ISD reaches agreement with superintendent

Our partner the Longview News Journal reports the Hallsville ISD school board on Tuesday unanimously approved a voluntary separation agreement with Superintendent Greg Wright.

The agreement calls for Wright to resign his position and employment with the district effective June 30 -- two years before his contract was slated to end.

Wright, however, is on paid leave until that time and Deputy Superintendent Paula Rogers is overseeing the district's business. Wright will be paid his monthly salary through June 30 and then will receive a lump sum of $25,000, per the agreement.

"The employment relationship between the board and Mr. Wright was resolved to all parties mutual satisfaction," Board President Jason Petersen said in a statement. "The board and Mr. Wright have decided to go in different directions. Mr. Wright enjoyed his time serving Hallsville ISD and the board appreciates Mr. Wright's service to the district."
