Voters headed to the polls in local elections today.

At stake were several municipal and district offices as well as measures to allow alcohol sales in three area cities.

In Tyler, Therelee Washington held off Howard Heggins for the T.I.S.D School Board District 3 seat.

The three-way District 6 city council race will head to a June 19th run-off between top-two vote-getters Kara Camp and Jason Wright.

In Longview , Sidney Allen defeated Debbie Fontaine for the District 6 council seat.

Richard Manley squeaked ahead of his two opponents to take District 5's council seat.

There will be no run-off for this seat.

In Whitehouse, Pat Powell handily defeats Scott Dillingham for City Council Place 2.

Charles Parker had his own landslide against Jed Dillingham for Council Seat, Place 4.

Jay Misenheimer beat his two opponents in the Lindale School Board race.

John Whitsell successfully won the mayor's race in Troup, beating Steve Oakes by 12 percentage points.

Troup is still dry. Voters rejected two propositions to allow alcohol sales for off-premise consumption.

In Jacksonville, beer and wine sales for off-premise consumption will now be legal.

Voters there also approved of the mixed beverages in restaurants proposition.

In Brownsboro, the proposition to allow alcohol sales for off-premise consumption was defeated 55 to 45 percent.

In Whitehouse, a proposition to amend the city charter, including a change in the qualifications for city manager was approved by a wide margin, 85 to 15.
