Hallsville among local schools named to distinguished list

Hallsville Middle School, Union Grove Elementary School and New Diana’s Robert F. Hunt Elementary School are three of 25 schools in Region 7 named a distinguished performance school in Texas by the state education agency.

They are among 501 schools statewide to receive the honor out of the state’s 8,526 public schools. Another 10 campuses in the state were named distinguished progress schools.


Hallsville Middle School iss the only 4A school in the area to receive the title, and it is the school’s fourth consecutive year to be named a distinguished performance school.

“What a great tribute to our district and the staff and students who go the extra mile to reach the higher achievement necessary for this distinguished recognition,” district spokeswoman Carol Greer said. “Principal Brandon Jones and his staff have created a culture of success in which each student achieves at high levels. They certainly deserve to be congratulated for their efforts.”
