Lufkin man shot by police after shooting his wife

LUFKIN - Lufkin police officers shoot a man who reportedly shot his wife.

According to the Lufkin Daily News this happened on Friday afternoon.

Reports say 86 year-old Maurell McClendon was in a yard carrying a gun, while his estranged wife, Christine, lay on the ground wounded.

Christine McClendon later died at the hospital.

Maurell is in the hospital.

The incident is under investigation.
