TYLER-- Tyler Police Investigate Fatality Car Crash

Tyler Police, Fire, and EMS responded to the 7600 block of S. Broadway at the intersection of Heritage at 1:19 p.m., Thursday, September 02, 2010 on a two vehicle roll-over pin-in crash.

A Tyler Police Officer clocked a Dark Green, Nissan Sentra, traveling north bound on S. Broadway at a high rate of speed. The officer pulled out and attempted to catch up with the speeding vehicle. The officer observed the Nissan passing other vehicles on the right shoulder near the intersection of S. Broadway and Cumberland. The Nissan continued to travel northbound and the officer determined that he would not be able to catch the speeding vehicle. The officer discontinued the attempt to catch the vehicle.

The Nissan continued North to the intersection of Heritage and S. Broadway. The Nissan crashed into the rear of a White, Toyota Camry, that was sitting in the outside traffic lane, waiting for the light to change at Heritage.

The driver of the Toyota was deceased in the over turned vehicle when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. The driver was a 55 year old white male from Plano, Texas.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Jerlene Boyd, B/F age 50 (11/10/1959) of Tyler. Officers observed signs of alcohol related to the driver. The Driver was taken to ETMC for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Boyd was arrested for possession of marijuana and an out-standing warrant out of Smith County.

Accident Investigators responded to the scene to investigate the crash. The identification of both drivers will be released when notification has been made. Charges are pending upon completion of the investigation.

Pt. 3-
She should be sitting in jail right now contemplating her sins & transgressions, and getting herself ready to pay the price for these. I personally hope they throw the book at her. I'll certainly be tracking this case. And if I see a group of 'pastors' surrounding & defending her and saying racial prejudice led to this lady's past and contributed to her misdeeds, they'll hear from me too. She made her choices and its time to pay up.

When someone commits murder, no matter what the circumstances or how the authorities choose to classify it, and there's actual physical evidence of drugs or alcohol involved, and there's past evidence of a pattern of misconduct and wanton disregard for the law, its a NO-BRAINER- there should be NO BAIL SET. This protects the public safety from further 'transgressions' by a person who obviously doesn't care about the public welfare. What other reason does law enforcement exist?

Why would the Tyler Police Dept & DA allow this woman to go free on $3000 Bond? Could someone explain that to me? She had an outstanding warrant-reason enough to lock her up NOW. She evaded police- reason to set a high enough bond so that this women STAY in jail. And then she uses her car as a weapon to KILL one of my best friends, a good christian man who was there on business, innocently obeying traffic laws. His wife, son, stepdaughter and all of us are devasted. to be continued..
