TYLER, TEXAS- A new law that took effect January first requires 100 watt light bulbs to no longer be manufactured and requires new light bulbs to be 25% more efficient.

They've been around for more than 100 years, but soon watt light bulbs will be a thing of the past.

So you may want to stock up now...before they are all gone.

Retailers will be able to keep selling their supply of the incandescent bulbs until they are out of stock.

Manufacturers can't import or make more bulbs that draw the same amount of energy as the existing models.

However, they will continue to make a newer version of the bulbs to meet the stricter standards.

The new more energy efficient bulbs are primarily fluorescent lamps known as CFL'S which supposedly last ten times longer.
