Monday rains gives reprive in commissioner's court
Nacogdoches---The Daily Sentinel reports; a couple inches of rain scattered throughout the county has once again struck a burn ban off Nacogdoches County commissioners’ lists.
Monday’s rain, welcomed throughout the county, means a burn ban won’t be enacted for at least another week or two, Nacogdoches County Judge Joe English said.
“We had quite an active weekend as far as fires, and it seems there was a lot of activity for the local volunteer fire departments. But yesterday was quite a surprise, and we had quite a bit of rain — more in some parts of the county than others — but I’m going to ask we pass on the burn ban until we can get some updated information and re-evaluate it,” English said during Tuesday’s meeting of the Nacogdoches County Commissioners Court.
