1 dead after collision with 18-wheeler in Lufkin

Lufkin, Texas (KETK) — One person is dead after two cars collided at an intersection in Lufkin.
At approximately 11:15 p.m., Wednesday night, officers with the Lufkin Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle accident at the intersection of North Medford Drive (Loop 287) and Davisville Road (Farm to Market 2021).
A traffic collision investigation was conducted by members of the Lufkin Police Department Traffic Division and it was revealed that Rainey Blaylock, 18, of Austin, was driving southeast on Davisville Road and failed to yield at the intersection of North Medford Drive. Warren Jones, 39, of Belzoni, Mississippi, was traveling northwest on Medford in a tractor-trailer. The vehicles collided at the intersection and Blaylock was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Puckett.
The crash is still being investigated and Blaylock's next of kin has been notified.
