The May 12 election for the Lufkin ISD Board of Trustees will include one incumbent and five new candidates running for three at-large seats.

With the terms of Andro Branch, Cooper Castleberry and Gip Friesen expiring in May, six men — Keven Ellis, John Jerke, Joe Morales, Armando Navarro, Scott Skelton and Branch — have filed as candidates for the three open positions. While Branch applied for reelection, Castleberry and Friesen did not.

Huntington ISD’s school board has three seats open, with Rod Hughes running unopposed for Position 3. Incumbent James Flournoy is running against David Palmer for Position 4, while Position 5 candidates are Phillip Wood, Byron Beard, Tracy Neal and Charles Robertson Jr.

Zavalla ISD  has two school board positions open. Incumbent Earnest Bryan, along with candidates Rodney Lott and Caroline Guzman, will vie for the two at-large seats.
