10 acres burning north of Tyler

Fire Marshal Jim Seaton tells KETK about 8-10 acres are burning on the 12,400 block of County Road 35 and Lavender Road.

Marshal Seaton believes it has been burning for over a day.

Fire departments are having trouble getting into the fire because of the heavily wooded area. Firefighters are using 2 plows to try and reach the flames.

How the fire started is unknown at this time.

No injuries have been reported.


Smith County fire officials have confirmed a brush fire on County Road 35, also known as Lavender Road.

The fire has currently consumed at least 10 acres. So far, there have been no reports of injuries or property damage.

KETK crews are en route and will bring you more information as it becomes available.

And we are under a burn ban......probably intentional out of spite for the burn ban. Some folks don't think twice how fast a fire can get out of control and the cost of that fire. Thank you to all our volunteer firemen who do a job whenever they are called upon.
