LAKE CHARLES, LA (NBC33) — A man and a woman have been arrested for human trafficking after they allegedly forced a young woman from Alabama into prostitution and threatened her life.
The Lake Charles Police Department reports that its agency was contacted on Sunday, Sept. 22 regarding a missing 19-year-old woman from Huntsville. Investigators believed she was in Louisiana based on information provided by the victim’s mother.
Officials say the young woman went missing on Friday, Sept. 20, but she managed to call her mother. She told her that she had been taken against her will and her captors threatened both her life and the life of her family members if she tried to leave.
The woman’s mother reported the information to the Huntsville Police Department. Based on the information provided, they identified Lake Charles as her possible location.
Officers with the Lake Charles Police Department were able to track the young woman to a local hotel. The woman was recovered unharmed, and they arrested Ivory Charles Pantallion, III, 33, of Beaumont, TX, and Jessica Lynne Morgan, 24, of Shelbyville Tennessee.
Investigators learned that the victim left Huntsville freely with the two suspects. However, once they arrived in Beaumont, TX, the victim’s phone was taken from her and she was given a disposable phone.
The woman claims that Pantallion and Morgan advertised her services online. They told her she would provide an escort service for men, and the threats against her life were stated.
The trio only spent one night in Beaumont. They then packed up and left for Lake Charles, where her services were again advertised online.
At this point the victim managed to call and contact her mother and the investigation was launched. Detectives were able to track them down via the information that was posted online.
Pantallion is charged with Human Trafficking and Simple Kidnapping. His bond was set at $1 million. Morgan is facing the same charges, but her bond was set at $500,000.
Both were booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center.
