2 die in floods in Texas
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - At least two people died as the remnants
of Tropical Storm Hermine caused flooding in central and north
Texas, submerging much of the city of Arlington under water.
Cleburne fire chief Clint Ishmael tells the Fort Worth
Star-Telegram that a man drowned Wednesday afternoon after being
swept away from firefighters who were trying to rescue him from a
flooded creek north of Alvarado in Johnson County. The man had been
stranded in his pickup truck.
He says the man was found about 50 yards downstream.
The National Weather Service has reported that at least one
person died in a vehicle submerged by water from a swollen creek in
Killeen, north of Austin.
