2 major accidents within same area on I-20

SMITH COUNTY — A DPS spokeswoman says I-20 has reopened.
A KETK photographer reports 4 people have been taken to local hospitals.
Two of the people injured are in serious condition, 1 was airlifted by helicopter.
KETK has learned the second wreck happened when one driver tried to pass stalled traffic from the first accident, and wrecked when he couldn't stop in time .
I-20 is currently closed.
A KETK photographer reports a chopper is landing on Interstate 20 to transport one person.
A second person, involved in the semi wreck, was taken away by ambulance.
A witness tells KETK, the initial wreck was caused by the semi's tire wobbling and an overcorrection.
Smith County troopers tell KETK, both westbound lanes are blocked and traffic is being rerouted.
Smith County fire officials confirm there have been 3 major wrecks on I-20 near Highway 271.
KETK is being told all the accidents are within 150 yards of each other.
The first wreck involves a semi that rolled over. The other two are pin-ins that may require the jaws of life to remove a person(s).
Drivers should avoid this area until further notice.
