Rain or shine, the 2nd annual "Far Out Art Festival" kicked off this weekend in Ben Wheeler.

Blacksmiths, wood carvers and many other different artists came together for this one of a kind art fest.

"It's an eclectic group of artists. You have everything from contemporary, level works, realism to the traditional oiliest," said local artist Christi Barrett.

About 20 artists came out to showcase their work.

"It's wonderful to see everyone come out and kind of get together and share what their talents are and sell their work, so it's really exciting," said Barrett.

Barrett said the past two years have been a great experience and she's met a lot of wonderful people.

"The artists and the musicians coming together kind of amplify everything and there are a lot of big personalities."

Lonnie Robinson traveled from the Dallas area.

"What we got in here are the wine racks, we started those years ago when we were in Ben Wheeler. We began to make the ladle the copper and bronze, they've been a great asset to our shop," said Robinson.

Robinson prides himself on making every piece of his work unique.

"If we are going to be working with the Forge out here, I want them to see that work being done," said Robinson.

Chainsaw carving artist Debra Martynowicz found her passion from watching her father.

"He worked for a tree service and so me and my sister used to go help him and so I was doing a lot of my own cutting and 7 years ago I saw a guy do it once and I said I can do that," said Martynowicz.

She makes everything from bears to fish and is now even working on a unicorn.

"Anything that's new I really like. I like to see if I can do it."

Every artist has their own style and distinct story that they express through their art work.
