3 suspects linked to ICE agent death appearing in Dallas court
DALLAS (AP) - Three gun-smuggling suspects are set to appear in a Dallas federal court after one of the weapons was tied to last month's fatal shooting of a U.S. agent in Mexico.
The probable cause hearing was set for Tuesday, a day after three men were arrested in their Dallas-area homes.
Authorities say the gun was used in the Feb. 15 shooting of two federal agents driving on a highway in San Luis Potosi. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata was killed and agent Victor Avila was wounded.
The agents worked at the U.S. Embassy in Mexico City. Avila is recovering in the United States.
Mexican authorities say a regional boss for the Zetas drug gang accused in Zapata's slaying has been captured.
