UPSHUR COUNTY-- Three Upshur County elected officials turned themselves in Thursday, after they were indicted on charges of official oppression and abuse of official capacity.

Our newspaper partner, The Longview News-Journal reports, County Judge Dean Fowler, Sheriff Anthony Betterton and Precinct 3 Commissioner Lloyd Crabtree were released on their own personal recognizance.

This comes after they ended public comment at commissioners court meetings and allegedly threw a man out for having duct tape over his mouth.

As of Thursday, Upshur County Commissioners voted to return public comments to the courts agendas.

Looks like these boys had something to hide after all. Censorship is never a good thing ....

How proud we are to be Texans until we look at our local governments. By example, Washington ruins a nation, one precinct at a time.
