When a teacher was asked to removed a Christian poster from her Rusk High School classroom in early January, many in the community were upset.

But according to superintendent Scott Davis, the correct steps were taken, and says although most in the area may be Christian, a school district cannot show favoritism toward one religion.

"There are some lines that we need to respect when it comes to the employee and kid relationship when it comes to that so that's how we got to this point," said Davis.

But for senior Cameron Franks, he saw this, as an opportunity.

"I want to be a disciple for the Lord and spread the gospel but I don't want to offend anybody in the process so I was thinking well teachers, their hands are tied so why can't I do something." said Franks.

And so he did, along with his dad and some of his friends, they designed red shirts expressing their faith for students to wear on campus.

Now, anyone can make a donation to the cause at Cherokee County Credit Union, while businesses in the area, such as J&J Jewelry and The Hip Shack, have order sheets by their registers.

The money raised will help pay for shirts for students who may not be able to afford them.

It's an effort, Davis applauds.

"They honestly want to leave a great legacy behind of solid citizenship and in their case they're very grounded in their faith," said Davis.

A legacy, seniors such as Cameron, hope will be remembered long after they graduate.

"I know that that kind of attitude, once taken from here and grown and fostered and nurtured they're gonna be great citizens," said Davis.

"This is how I'm gonna display my discipleship toward my community and my school and after this I'm not going to have any regrets," said Franks.

Walken598 is absolutely correct.

Christians need to understand that there is a Constitution that declares that the government has to remain secular, that includes schools.

well congrats and so proud of all our kids schools that are taking back our and their belief in out lord and savor and stop letting the government telling us what we can`t and can not do when it comes to our Lord and savior, nice job and god bless you all .

Thank you Mr. Franks!
As teachers we have to abide by the law, but thank God there are students who can and will stand up for Christian values.

Why is it the liberals think we're should show tolerance to those who have different beliefs, different lifestyles, .but they don't show any "tolerance" of our beliefs! We don't try to shove it down their throats like they do, we just want equal rights that are already guaranteed to us!

Thank you Mr.Scott Davis for standing up with what's right. Not many will, and you did the right thing. You followed the law.
