Tyler—
The Monday death of a little boy in Leverett's Chapel who was mauled by two Pitt Bulls, prompts the question: should this particular breed be banned in your town or county or state?

WOW! Stupid! that is what i call people who refuse to do research before pointing fingers. ALOT of people don't know this....Many Dogs LOOK like a PitBull Terrior. But they aren't all PitBulls. just cause the dog has a square head and broad shoulders doesn't make it a Pitt. If someone sees a dog that has a square head they say "Pitt" so often people are so wrong. and if you are being chased by a dog i don't think you are going to stop and ask it what breed it is. So the Pitt breed is often given the blame even if the breed isn't a true match. BUT....most people refuse to take the time out to research this issue either.
click on this link and it will be proven that even you may have no clue at all. I wonder how many people will actually look at it and do a quick 2min research. http://www.pitbullsontheweb.com/petbull/findpit.html

5 months agoAll it is people not taking care of there children. All this is just green acres people trying to ban everything. Come the lil kid was alone in the street just like the other lil girl of was saved. Tell me what where are the pics of the so called pit bulls. And where are the parents. It's was common sence really. Walk up to a lion see what he does. There animals if it doesn't know you or like you it will protect him self. All animals are like this. And we have lil kids walking around alone come on. More than likely they walk up to the dog trying to hit it with something. Like I said kids will be kids take care of them. Ban yourself for being so dumb take care of your kids. And please stop trying to ban everything stop being dumb and go to your bowing hall and sit at yalls wonderful bar. Yall should built one in the church too.

5 months agoHERE IS THE REAL ISSUE IN ALL THIS:
The child was left HOME ALONE and went into SOMEONE ELSES YARD where he did not belong. Many dogs, whether Pit Bull or not, would attack anyone who came into their yard. This one just happened to be a child. It is truly sad but the fact is, these PARENTS who left that poor child home alone should take a long hard look in the mirror. They are after Pit Bulls and the owners of these dogs because they don't want to have to look in the mirror and admit they never should have left their child home alone. To be honest, I would probably be the same way. But in the end, no one has the right to point the finger here. It was an accident where an animal reacted out of instint simply because someone enters his yard. Pit Bulls should not suffer because of this. Yes, if an animal attacks and kills a man, it is biblical to kill the animal HOWEVER, it is NOT biblical to kill the whole breed. The end.

5 months agoSeems to me that the young boy was skateboarding on the sidewalk by the house. The dogs got out a dragged him down a rural road. How is that the young boys fault? If your gonna own these type of dogs you better be ready to for what comes with it. Sharon, I think you need to re-read the story and stop having tunnel vison.

5 months agoWell in my opinion you peolpe her in Texas are just trying to find away to have this breed banned. I'll let you know right now I own one and this state has another thing coming if they think I am going to pay for those other dogs mistakes. My husband's grandfather raised pittbulls all his life and he would get them rilled up and they never bit him once.Yes this breed was raised to fight in the old days but they where also breed to not be aggressive towards humans. My daughter is 9 months old and she pulls at my dogs ears and pokes her in the eyes and crawls all over her and all she does is lay there. It is all in how you raise your dogs. everyone in my neighborhood owns pittbulls and it is full of kids and none of them have been hurt. Look at Micheal vick the dogs that they confiscated from him where as sweet as they could be to the people that rescued them.I know that for a fact cause I have lived in georgia all my life and i was there and heard and saw everything when it came to that. One of the guys that my father worked with raised rottweilers and they where as sweet as they could be and one day they just attacked him, my husband grandmother can't where short sleeved shirt or anything she can't button up to her neck because she was viciously attacked by german shepherds. Every breed of dog will attack if it feels threantend or guarding their territory. My grandmothers chuahua has attcked me and bit me beofore. But all you want to look at is pittbulls because people have given them such a bad rap from fighting them or mistreating them. You shouldn't single the breed out all dogs attack no matter whether or not you choose to beleive it.

5 months agowe live in a world where people don't get to know their neighbors anymore, so how in the world are you pit bull lovers thinking we can trust what is being said with the "trust me, my dog would never hurt anyone" are you all in fact saying the other pit bull owners that did attack knew that their dogs would attack? That just because you say your dog is a great dog that it will be? why on earth would you want that liability??? I have a neighbor who owns a pit bull- which does get out of the fence. I have an elderly father and father n law that lives here. Not that I could beat a pit bull if I had to. I ask the young man to keep it in his fence, PLEASE!!! His response: She is so nice she wouldn't hurt a fly. I thought my head was gonna pop off, I told that person if he didn't keep her in his yard I would shot the dog. He wants convince me that his sweet pit bull is nothing but nice. Why does it seem for the most part pit bulls are owned by idiots??? I have a Rott/mix in a 5" fence no chance of getting out. This neighbor has 3 little kids, wonder how he would feel if my sweet dog ran around??

5 months agoI am going to go against the opinion of many of you as an owner/lover of these wonderful dogs. In no way am I making light of what happened to Justin Clinton or anyone else and I pray for them and their families.
I blame alot of these "pit bull" attacks on owner negligence and media hype. As was stated earlier, where are the pics of the dog from the latest attack?????? Who determined it was indeed a pit bull?????
I take offense everytime someone questions why I own the breed or allow them around my children (yes I have 2 girls ages 13 and 7). As a child, I was bitten by 2 different Chows in two different incidents, once requiring stitches, and have been bitten by a Rottweiler as an adult, requiring stitches. My oldest daughter has been bitten by a friend's Chihuaha and a Doberman we used to own. I'm not out protesting to ban these 4 breeds nor was the media there while I was getting stitched up either time!!!!
My children constantly interact with all of our dogs on a daily basis and my 13 year old actually SHOWS our dogs when we attend sanctioned shows!!! We have a huge collection of trophies, ribbons, plaques, etc.....from the numerous shows we have attended and won and placed.
There are good people and good dogs out there. None of our dogs were bought at the local Wal-Mart parking lot or out of the classifieds. Our dogs come from CA, IN, MI, MA, TX, etc......and are all UKC/ABKC Registered, socialized, very well cared for, and have regular vet care. These dogs are like our children and they are treated as such. The money invested in these animals, I'll be darned if they're left to run the streets and risk getting stolen or hit by a vehicle.
The authorities and the local officials need to make stiffer fines and penalties for dog owners who cannot follow the rules and be responsible dog owners. That is the bottom line!!!! Most of these dogs running the streets and causing problems I am sure are not properally vaccinated, cared for, or socialized. Dog ownership is a big responsibility and those who choose not to care for, contain, or vaccinate their animals should be fined and ticketed. I am tired of being ridiculed for being a RESPONSIBLE owner of GOOD dogs. Like the old saying goes...."A few bad apples can ruin the whole bunch". Until you've owned, cared, and loved one of these dogs, please don't judge them........

6 months agoVery well written, my 4 yr.old son was brutually mauled to death on Good Friday of this year in our own yard while playing with his toy trucks only rds away from me and my husband by our neighbors 3 AKC Boxers. These dogs are so called pets...go figure. People are so worried about certain breeds when they need to educate themselves on all large breed dogs.....SOCIALIZATION & DISCIPLINE!!!!!! If it has teeth it can be dangerous. I'm so tired of people stereotying, when people saw the 3 Boxers that viciously attacked(Almost ate him alive) my baby before me called them Pitbulls it's no wonder there are so many Pitbull attacks.....because most don't even know the difference. Please everyone educate yourselves, it can be any type of dog. God Bless you our lil' Angel "Blaise"
