ARP Elementary school received a $30,000 dollar check from American State Bank this morning and an additional $20,000 from a special donor.

Even before their planned fundraiser with Mooyah, the school now has $50,000 for a new playground.

The kids at ARP elementary will not have to play on the dirt or in the forest anymore.

Thanks to a generous donation made by a locally run bank and the family who owns it.

"You know they don't have a playground. They play on a pile of dirt literally and it really tugged at our heart," said Brandon Steele, Chairman of the board for American State Bank.

The bank saw the kids heartfelt story and wanted to help.

"Our kids were very excited to say the least and so were our teachers that we were getting the money to build our playground,"said PTO president Patricia Parnell.

The 101-year-old bank wrote a check for $30,000.

Steele then wrote another check for $20,000 out of his own pocket, matching the funds needed to start building.

Steele says the donation was a simple thank you for all of their loyal customers.

" For that 101 years of dedication that those students their parents dedicated to our bank, it's the very least we owe them," said Steele.

Steele delivered the check to the school this morning and surprised all the kids.

Both Steele and the school said the look on the kids faces was both heartwarming and priceless.

A moment they will never forget.

"God is so good because he's blessed us so much with this today. He really has," said Parnell.
