East Texas soldier makes his way home
TYLER - A patriotic scene as two soldiers made their way home to East Texas on Friday. The Welcome Home Soldiers group in East Texas saw the two come both at different times, but the excitement was the same.
Sergeant Jared Moses and Army Specialist Chase Downey arrived at Tyler Pounds Regional Airport to friends a family who anxiously awaited them.
For Moses this was a very special occasion, not only did he see his family, but he got to see his 4-month old baby son for the first time.
Moses will head back to Afghanistan in two weeks but until then he says he's ready to get back to one thing specifically - fishing.
Downey however says he's home for good, after spending two years in the field. Downey has served in both Iraq and Afghanistan.
He said he plans on surprising his family with his arrival. Downey tells us they weren't expecting him until Saturday.
Downey says besides spending time with family and ringing in the new year, he's just glad to be back home.
