Beach patrol: No July 4th drownings on Galveston Island
Galveston — The Houston Chronicle is reporting; despite crowds celebrating Independence Day, no drowning deaths were reported as of Thursday night on Galveston Island.
As of 9 p.m., there had been no drownings, but a woman was rescued from shallow water about 7:15 p.m. east of the 29th Street jetty, according to Galveston Island Beach Patrol Chief Peter Davis.
