Addicted to caffeine? There's an app for that

UP Coffee is a free app that monitors how much caffeine you're drinking a day, and helps you understand how caffeine effects sleep. You enter in the drink and the amount, and the app tells you how much more you can have before bed. It measures on a scale from 'sleep ready' to 'wired.' After seven days it reveals your 'caffeine persona,' and tells you your average intake per week.

Many of us wake up to a cup of coffee in the morning, and rely on caffeine to keep us going throughout the day, and one East Texan said, "if I don't drink it in the morning, its a bad day." KETK asked some people how much coffee they drink throughout the day and here were some of their responses.

"While I'm here at the station its not uncommon for me to drink a cup of coffee about every 30 to 45 minutes," said Phil Kuchinsky, KETK sports anchor. Some East Texans said, "oh my gosh, probably 2 or 3 glasses a day," " probably 3 or 4." KETK news reporter and anchor Nicole Vowell said she drinks "about 6 cups of caffeine, either coffee or tea, every day." "Before I go to work I have about 3 cups and then I'll on my way out I'll fill this up, and look its 12:30 and I'm still drinking coffee," said KETK news reporter and anchor Teresa Sardina.

Since they were such big coffee drinkers, we then asked if they would try the app. One East Texan said, "probably not," and another, "no, because in my mind I know how much. I think its good for people who cant control their intake." Vowell said she thinks it would "be interesting to really see how much caffeine is too much for me to be drinking."

Kuchinsky said he would probably try the app, but when asked if he would stop drinking coffee when it said to he said, "the apps not going to know, it only knows how much you put in right? Maybe I'll sneak a couple cups on the side."

The app is available for free on the app store, and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
