Aggie student raising money for K-9 Kevlar

Bryan, Tx (KYLE) — A local student is raising money to help protect the animals that help protect the public.
Katie Tippet, a Texas A&M Class of 2012 graduate and current grad student, has put together an event to bring in money called Aggie Kevlar for K9s. She is aiming to raise about $2,300 to outfit two Bryan Police Department K9 officers-- Kohn and Falco-- with ballistic vests.
These dogs aren't just any 'ol dogs. Any K-9 handler will attest they are no less valuable than a human partner, according to the Bryan Police Department Spokesman Kelley McKethan.
More and more agencies are relying on the traits police K-9 can provide to protect officers and the general public. Kohn and Falco are well trained, intelligent, enthusiastic, and loyal partners to Officers Hanks and Hauke.
Reports show 60% of all police K-9 casualties could be prevented through the use of a ballistic vest.
