One East Texas group is helping another this week.

The Quest Group, part of the Alert Academy, spent most of Tuesday clearing land next to the Son Shine Lighthouse Women's Shelter in New London. The group is made up of about 30 boys between the ages of 13-17.

Started earlier this year the Son Shine Lighthouse helps women get back on their feet.

Housing 7 women and some children right now the director, Ginger Lento, tells KETK they have plenty of space inside and needed a place for the women to go outside to pray, play with their children, or just to clear their minds.

Alert Academy and Quest will be clearing the land for a serinity trail and hopefully a play area for the children.

The group will be out there again on Wednesday and say they are in need of a wood chipper if someone is able to donate one for the day.

Son Shine Lighthouse is funded entirely on private donations.
